Maike Reimer received her Diploma in Psychology and her Ph. D. in Sociology from the Freie Universität Berlin. From 1999 to 2004 she worked first as pre-, then as post-doctoral fellow at the Max-Planck-Institut für Bildungsforschung. Since 2005, she is a senior researcher at the IHF.

Her research interests include academic careers, institutional and organizational differentiation, the transition from higher education institutions into the labour market, and methodological aspects of survey research.
