Logging
When you access pages on this website, your internet browser transmits data to our web server. The following data is recorded during an ongoing connection for communication between your internet browser and our web server:
•    Date and time of the request
•    Name of the requested file
•    Page from which the file was requested
•    Access status (file transferred, file not found, etc.)
•    Web browser and operating system used
•    Full IP address of the requesting computer
•    Amount of data transferred.

For reasons of technical security, in particular to defend against attempts to attack our web server, we store this data. After seven days at the latest, the data is anonymised by shortening the IP address at domain level so that it is no longer possible to establish a link to individual users.
To prevent threats to information technology security, the data is forwarded to the State Office for Information Technology Security and processed there on the basis of Art. 12 ff. of the Bavarian E-Government Act.

Cookies and web tracking methods (reach measurement)
Only temporary cookies are set, which are deleted when the browser is closed. Analysis programmes and other techniques for evaluating your usage behaviour are not used.

Active components
Only JavaScript is used on the website of the Bavarian State Institute for Higher Education Research and Planning. No other active components are used.

RSS feeds
An RSS feed is a type of newsletter that you can read either with your browser or with a special programme (RSS reader). If we offer an RSS feed, we will use it to inform you about the latest events. Currently, three RSS feeds are available for the publications: Contributions to Higher Education Research, Studies on Higher Education Research and IHF Compact.
If personal data is collected when registering for an RSS feed, it will be processed exclusively for the purpose of implementing the RSS and deleted as soon as the purpose is no longer pursued, i.e. either as a result of your unsubscription or the discontinuation of the RSS.

Newsletter, ordering publications
You can subscribe to our regular newsletter. The email address (mandatory field) and, optionally, the title, salutation, first and last name, and institution provided when ordering the newsletter via the online form are collected for the purpose of sending the newsletter on a regular basis. Subscribers may also be informed by email about circumstances relevant to the dispatch or registration (e.g. changes to the newsletter offer or technical circumstances). Your details will be stored exclusively for the purpose of sending the newsletter and will only be processed for this purpose.

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time as follows:
You have the right to revoke your consent to receive the newsletter at any time for the future. To do so, please use the ‘Unsubscribe newsletter’ button in the newsletter. This does not affect the legality of the data processing carried out on the basis of your consent until revocation. You can also unsubscribe via the website where you subscribed to the newsletter. Alternatively, you can contact us at any time by post, stating your email address and using the subject line ‘Unsubscribe newsletter’: Bavarian State Institute for Higher Education Research and Planning (IHF), Arnulfstraße 56, 80335 Munich, Germany, or by email to: newsletter@ihf.bayern.de. After unsubscribing from the newsletter, you will be removed from the mailing list. Immediate implementation cannot be guaranteed. The data will be deleted as soon as it is no longer required for the purpose for which it was collected. Your consent and the revocation of your consent will be stored indefinitely for evidence purposes.

When you order publications, your contact details will only be processed for the purpose of sending you the publications you have ordered. Your data will be deleted from our records no later than one year after you cancel your subscription. Your address and order will be forwarded to the company responsible for shipping, Druckerei & Verlag Steinmeier GmbH & Co. KG, Gewerbepark 6, 86738 Deiningen, for processing.

Electronic mail (e-mail)
Information that you send to us unencrypted by electronic mail (e-mail) may be read by third parties during transmission. We are generally unable to verify your identity and do not know who is behind an e-mail address. Legally secure communication by simple e-mail is therefore not guaranteed. Like many email providers, we use filters against unwanted advertising (‘spam filters’), which in rare cases may also automatically classify normal emails as unwanted advertising and delete them. Emails containing harmful programs (‘viruses’) are automatically deleted by us in any case.

If you wish to send us messages that require protection, we recommend sending them to us by conventional post.
You can also send us encrypted messages via the BayernPortal and a valid BayernID. Our contact details on the BayernPortal with the secure contact form and the procedure can be found at: www.freistaat.bayern/dokumente/behoerde/60109407367

Photographs
During our events, photographs may be taken in which you may be recognisable. You can object to the taking and/or publication of these photographs at any time. Please use the above contact details to submit your objection.

Changes to our privacy policy
We reserve the right to amend this privacy policy from time to time to ensure that it always complies with current legal requirements or to implement changes to our services in the privacy policy, e.g. when introducing new services. The new privacy policy will then apply to your next visit.
